How we research
We write from official sources first, date every page, and correct mistakes as soon as they are reported.
Our sources
- Massachusetts Division of Insurance: Basics of Auto Insurance, the Consumer Bill of Rights for Automobile Insurance, and the list of companies writing private passenger auto insurance.
- Registry of Motor Vehicles and Merit Rating Board: the Safe Driver Insurance Plan, surchargeable incidents and the standards of fault (211 CMR 134 and 211 CMR 74.00).
- Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers (CAR): the state's official statistical agent for motor vehicle insurance, for market share data.
- Trade press: to date legal changes, such as the minimum limits that rose on July 1, 2025, always checked against the official pages.
What we won't publish
We don't publish average prices, rankings or savings claims we can't source. Massachusetts insurers set their own rates, so a number that is true for one driver can be wrong for you; only a quote for your own profile tells you what you would pay. When a figure comes from a third party, we name the source and the period it covers.
Updates and corrections
Each page shows its last update date. Rules change: when the state changes a limit or a regulation, we update the affected pages. If you spot an error, write to contact@carinsurancequotesmassachusetts.com.
